See some great visual poetry--including mine--this month at Addison Center for the Arts!

I'd like to announce a great exhibition of visual poetry opening on Monday, April 9 at the Addison Center for the Arts.  The show includes amazing work by many visual poets from the Chicago region and beyond, and is curated by Francesco Levato.  I provided ten pieces from my series "Natural History," though I don't know if all will be in the show. All the info is here, along with a nice image of one of my pieces, as a sample of what will be shown!  The gallery's info page is nice too as a source of info about visual poetry, its types and techniques.

EmergencyINDEX and its release party

Emergency INDEXis a great new annual focusing on documentation of performance. It's put out by the wonderful Ugly Duckling Presse, and I'm looking forward to its release.  I can't make the release party at the Kitchen (as announced here).  But those of you in the NYC area should try to make it.  It looks great!

Oh yeah, I'm in thisINDEXtwice: as part of the Human Micropoem, and for the "Restrictive Andragogies and Ex-Citation" performance with Nicholas Alexander Hayes, in the Red Rover series.

Artifice #4 Release Do!

Now With More Video!

For more details, visit the ARTIFICE blog here!

ARTIFICE 4 features a multi-piece visual/collage poem from my project Trade (Series 1).

I'll be reading at the event, as indicated--and one of the videos screened will be a video adaptation of my contribution to issue 4.

It will be swell!

I'll Be There! (more news niblets)

I have been sitting on some announcements of upcoming events in which I'll be participating in the (fairly) near future:

Bad Date America(Chicago satellite):In conjunction with theRed Roverseries and 100 Thousand Poets for Change, I will join a bunch of my friends on September 24 for a unique take on poetic activism and community.  Specific time information is forthcoming (when I get it), but info about the project and the series is accessible through the above links.

Garfield Park Conservatory Quick Update: Benefit at Lincoln Hall Aug. 18!

Some areas of the Conservatory have reopened to the public, and repairs are slowly underway.  Funds are still being raised to help pay the insurance deductible, so donations are still a good way to help.  But if you really want to have some fun at a great Chicago event that will also help the Conservatory, get your tickets now!  Here's the place to be and how to do it.  Fun raffle, great bands, and mac-n-cheese!

Two great Chicago events on Friday, July 29!

Typically, as the cliché goes, it never rains but it pours.  I'm involved with two smashing events on the same night!  In a city with a vast array of diverse independent art and literature projects/communities, that's not uncommon.  So here's the deal:

"Half Truths" invitational opens at the Milwaukee Ave. Arts Festival! Come join me and a host of others at2735 N. Milwaukee Ave., Chicago! The opening reception for this show runs from 4-11 p.

Reminder: "Share the Square" MAAF Benefit and Preview Tomorrow Night

Chicagoans!  Don't forget the fundraiser for the Milwaukee Avenue Arts Festival from 6-9 p.m. at the Logan Square Kitchen, 2333 N. Milwaukee Ave.  I'll be there, and so will other people!  Want to be there too?  C'mon---you know you do!

Yeah, you do!
